Concordia University Wisconsin will host its annual 2018 Family Weekend October 5-7.
With the help of SGA, CMLT, Res Life, and other CUW organizations, the Campus Activities Board (CAB), is able to help bring families together.
According to senior Executive Coordinator for CAB, Olivia Bruntjen, CAB is arranging free admission to sporting events, and planning where the weekend’s activities will be located on campus.
“It’s all about bringing people together and reconnecting families and students; it’s a stress relief event, and it has always been really fun for people who have come,” Bruntjen said.
According to Bruntjen, attendance for Family Weekend has been growing over the years.
Over 900 people were in attendance last year alone.
Among those 900 was CUW student Taylor Chisolm.
“My parents came freshmen year, we went to the football game, did the tailgate, and afterwards went to the Chancery for dinner, and it was a great time,” Chisolm said.
Family Weekend incorporates a variety of exciting activities for students and their families to enjoy. According to the CUW app, there will be pumpkin painting, cotton candy, lawn games, sibling sleepovers, and free admission to sporting events.
“I feel like this year there’s a lot more matches, games, and tournaments. It would be fun to get around and watch the teams with family,” Chisolm said.
Despite the amount of planning and work that go into organizing this event, even CAB members themselves enjoy the weekend.
“I really like the check-in table, but my favorite part is the Chapel Courtyard with pumpkin painting and parents who are digging the oldies music,” Bruntjen said.
